Bhansali Family, Ahmedabad
Nestled in my hometown, our family set out to create not just a house, but a sanctuary rooted in spirit and climate.
Centered around a serene temple and natural pond, the home features five bedrooms, airy courtyards, a tranquil pool, and a welcoming deck—crafted for Ahmedabad’s climate balancing comfort, function, and sustainability.
Every corner was envisioned for the people who inhabit it—a family of nature lovers. Each space balances light, mood, and activity, bringing the outdoors in. Morning light animates the Temple, soft western glow warms family gatherings, and green views frame quiet corners for reflection.
Daylight and vegetation aren’t aesthetic choices—they’re part of the home’s rhythm, shaping emotion and wellbeing.
Designing for Climate & Connection
Optimal Orientation: The house is placed east-west, ensuring soft northern light fills the family spaces while shielding against the harsh southern sun.
Ventilation & Biophilia: A central courtyard and pond enhance airflow, bringing nature into daily living while naturally cooling the space.
Connected Living: Thoughtful planning ensures seamless indoor-outdoor connections, from kitchen views of lush gardens to open terraces for every bedroom.
Minimal Footprint: The compact yet functional layout preserves the land, reduces embodied energy, and optimizes every square foot.
Energy Efficiency: Passive cooling, cross-ventilation, and reduced reliance on artificial lighting make this home both sustainable and self-sufficient.
Rammed Earth Outhouse: A dedicated space built from rammed earth, designed to be as close to nature as constructed spaces allow—offering a raw, grounding experience of sustainability at its finest.
A home is more than its walls—this project embodies our values, our connection to nature, and a vision of sustainable, mindful living for generations to come.
